Q.1.2 What
is techno-economic paradigm?
The paradigm shift was identified by “American
physicist Thomas Kuhn as the
fundamental change in the basic concepts and experimental practices of a
scientific discipline “(Wikimedia Foundation, Inc., 2015)
The
techno-economic paradigm is the emergence of new technology and the larger
economic and social behaviour patterns. Meaning that with every new upgrade in
technology results in the discontinuing of the old one. An example could be
something as simple as when there used to be cassette radios where one had to
purchase a cassette and play one side and the flip it over to play the other
side, today we have smartphones and Bluetooth devices where we just need to
connect via Bluetooth to listen and stream any song we want. And these devices
improve ones’ social needs and wants. With the growth in needs, demand in
newer, greater technology is needed to continue the growth of the economic and
social standards.
